Turn The Street Corner & Be Amazed

Yes, this street actually exists in downtown Detroit. I can’t believe I never knew about it until my friend Lisa mentioned it last week. I had to check it out! Click here to read about this amazing project that began in 1986. The artist grew up on this street and I was fortunate enough to meet him and chat with him for awhile before looking around and taking photographs of his artwork that stretched down an entire street block. Pretty interesting, huh?

This Makes Me Happy

We’ve been in our new house for a week now. We have no idea what little surprises are buried underneath the ground. Found this little beauty today. It makes me happy. I love spring time.

PS…If you want this photo in a high resolution image to have as a screen saver, print for your wall, or throw darts at, let me know and I’ll email it to you.

Home From Our Getaway

We are home from a little getaway to Mackinaw Island. I took this picture of the bridge from the Ferry on the way to the Island. After that my beloved camera and I took a well-deserved 3 day break from each other. I love her. I should really name her. She goes with me everyone. I thought of her many times while I was sightseeing and she was in the hotel resting on the table with a fully charged battery, ready to make me some beautiful pictures. But alas, I needed a break. So, this is all you get. One picture of the bridge.

PS…Dave & I had a wonderful getaway. Ironically we were on a horse drawn carriage in the dark one night and suddenly spotted a recent client, Kristyn and her mom riding past us on bikes. I couldn’t believe we noticed them in the dark in a quick instant. Hope you guys enjoyed your week on the Island too!

Michigan Challenge Balloonfest

So apparently the Balloonfest in Howell, Michigan has been going on for 25 years now. But, this was the first time I ever went to it. Let’s just say that I’m sure it won’t be the last. In fact, I think it will be a great tradition to bring my little boys to it each year. They really enjoyed it! It’s a huge 3 day event drawing tons of people from all around. There are several hot air balloon launches, a carnival, craft fair, renaissance festival and more. Of course I brought my camera. I’m a sucker for any event where I can get some cool photo opportunities.

When it got dark the balloons all returned for their “glow” event. They all lit up so brightly for us. It was really unique. Then sky divers jumped out an airplane with glow sticks attached to their bodies and that was really neat to see them parachute down to the ground lit up in the dark.
