Darn Cute Kids

I have to say that I think these two kids are not only sweet as can be, but also pretty darn cute!  I was able to help pick out Catherine’s outfit.  Isn’t she cute as can be in it?  She loved everything from the coat to the hat to the chunky beads.  Jacob is in 5th grade and Catherine is in 1st grade.  The three of us went out into the winter wonderland and treaded through snow that was literally almost up to my knees!  We had a great time together.  The highlight of our adventure together was when a deer popped up in the background with us, and when a vehicle went off the side of the road, getting stuck in a small ditch because he was looking at us in his rear view mirror.  Oops!

Beth & Brian, here are some lots of my favorites of your great kids!

Commercial Project for Credit Unions

You may remember that I traveled the great state of Michigan during the fall months on a photography project.  I was hired by the Michigan Credit Union League to photograph 20 credit unions across the state.  The credit unions that were featured consisted of the largest and smallest credit union in each district.  Therefore, I made it to every geographical district in the state.  Can you believe I drove a total of 2,823 miles to complete this project?

I thoroughly enjoyed this project and found myself in many interesting places.  For example, one credit union was so small that they were only open 1 time per week for just 2 hours.  And another credit union operated out of a church and when I walked in there was a line of homeless people receiving clothing & food items.  Another credit union had an onsite work out facility for their employees, an outdoor running track and a cafeteria.  Yet another one brought me to the city where I attended college 16 years ago.  And one credit union sent me to buy the famous Upper Peninsula pasties so I headed home with a cooler filled with them.

The non-profit trade association chose images from the several hundreds I gave them and created artwork that would be displayed in the hallways of their new headquarters in Lansing, as well as in their office in the Detroit area.  There are 10 pieces of artwork representing the 10 districts, with each one showcasing the largest and smallest credit union from that district.

Here are a few of them to give you an idea of how they turned out.  These pieces of artwork are being mounted on acrylic and sized at 40″ x 60″.  Quite large!

Janessa’s Pictures

Here are some of the pictures that I took of Janessa this past weekend when her & I did our fun photo shoot together.  She’s very beautiful and such a sweet person.  She’s in her first year of college and it was a lot of fun having her here last week visiting.  Can’t wait to take more pictures together again soon, Janessa!

This first picture was her favorite.

Yours Truly

Yes, these are actually pictures of myself!  It’s so rare that we get portraits taken of ourself so this was extra fun for me!  I actually put my camera on the proper settings and taught my step-daughter, Janessa how to use my camera and she did great taking pictures for me!  Her & I spent 2 hours taking pictures of each other and having a blast!  We tried to strike some model-like poses, but usually ended up laughing about it.

I’ll be posting some of her pictures in a day or two, so check back!  They are great!!!

Here I am….!!!

Wedding Celebration

Over the holidays we enjoyed a fabulous wedding celebration for my step-son, Aaron and his new wife, Jenn.  Of course they hired a photographer, but seriously, you know me, I couldn’t resist taking my own camera with me.  So I had the best of both worlds….no pressure to take perfect pictures, and I was able to enjoy the evening yet I also got to capture a few great shots to help me remember some of the moments that I thought were perfect.

Congratulations, Aaron & Jenn.  I can tell how happy you are together.  You make a beautiful couple and celebrating your special day with you was wonderful.  Love you both.

Isn’t she gorgeous?  I love this picture because I remember the moment I took it.  She was looking up at Aaron, standing outside watching a fireworks display.  The look on her face says it all.  You can see how happy she is!

I also really like this picture.  It’s a silhouette of Jenn with her vail on, watching the fireworks with Aaron to her left.
