Collage Fun with a Sweet Sister

Sometimes family members come along during photo sessions and it’s always fun to meet them!  You remember one of the beautiful seniors, Brittany, from a couple of weeks ago.  Well, this is her younger sister Mackenzie.  This is what she was doing in the tall grass to kill some time while I was photographing Brittany.  I couldn’t resist taking a few pictures of her.  I was working on Brittany’s pictures today and came across these.  I thought they made a cute little collage together also.  So, I just had to share it with you.

These 5×10 collages have been a #1 seller for me.  They are mounted on a plastic styrene board and ready to put on a small easel to display on your mantle, end table, dresser or desk.  They are the perfect size and so unique compared to just one picture in a standard frame.  They make great gifts for the relatives too. Ask my mom.  I think she has at least 8 of them around her house & office of all her grandkids.

The Last High School Senior

Sniff, sniff.  Hold on, I need to grab a kleenex.  I believe this is the last High School Senior that I’m photographing this season.  This saddens me.  Because I’ve really, really grown to love photographing seniors.  Anyone still need their pictures done?  I’ll squeeze you in before school starts and you’ll have your proofs before yearbook pictures are due.  Call me.  Please.  I’m not ready to let go of the senior season.  LOL

Anyway, so if this is my final senior we’re going out with a bang.  Because I really love these pictures of Maria.  I don’t recall my skin being as flawless as hers…ever.  And I certainly never had (nor ever will have) such gorgeous long hair.  Anyway, she was a lot of fun and I really enjoyed working with her.  She was up for anything I wanted her to try.  Maria, you look fabulous in these pictures.  Enjoy your senior year!

Sessions & Fees

It looks like the rest of my summer sessions are booked up, however I may be able to squeeze in one more session.  So, contact me if you’d like a time slot in the next two weeks.  I am starting to schedule sessions for the Fall.  Can you believe Fall is just about upon us?

After my extremely busy summer with more sessions than I ever imagined I would have booked, I have decided that I need to do a slight fee increase.  I have never changed my fees since I started my business and have always been aware that my fees were lower than other photographers.  So I’ve implemented some modest fee increases on the pricing section of my website.  I also added some new options with varying session types & prices to accommodate your needs.

For those of you that have upcoming sessions scheduled with me your fees will remain as they were when you booked with me.  Also, if anyone has contacted me prior to today, but does not have a session scheduled, I will honor my previous pricing if you end up scheduling a session within the next 60 days.  And finally, for those of you who have already had sessions and are placing an order soon, the prior package prices will remain the same for you.

Thanks again to all my new clients from this summer.  It’s been such a thrill to work so much and make so many memories for so many people.  It also has been fun to meet so many of you and make new friends.

And Yet Another Gorgeous HS Senior

Boy, have I gotten my share of good looking seniors this season! The Michigan weather gave us some trouble, not once, but twice….but wow, did we end up with some incredible results despite the weather!

Brittany, you look great! And, yes, her eyes are that blue! Yes, her skin is that flawless. It was great meeting you & your family, Brittany! Here’s a sneak peak of some of my favorites from our session.

I have to talk about this first picture briefly. Often people think that the best days for pictures are when the sun is shining bright. Sure, I love working around the sun to find the best way to back light someone (like the 3rd picture with the yellow shirt on). But can you believe that this picture was taken at 8:30pm, it was our last picture, it was very dusky, almost dark, the sky was full of dark rain clouds and it was sprinkling rain on us lightly. And look at the results of this picture! Perfect even lightening. I did NOT lighten this in photoshop either. I barely had to edit this picture at all. I added some contrast and that was it. Plus, look at the bokeh (blurred background of her jeans and the grass)…it is so rich and yummy! I LOVE, double LOVE, triple LOVE this first picture of Brittany. Did I say that I really like the first picture?  (For those that are interested….f1.4, 1/20, 50mm, ISO 500, exposure comp +1)

Amidst all the rain clouds we suddenly noticed that we had a sunset that was literally a minute or so away from completely disappearing. I didn’t have time to shut off my car or check my camera settings. We leaped out, tossed Brittany in a field and tried for a sunset picture. And then, just like that, it was gone. I love the variety of colors that show up all over this picture.

Home From Our Getaway

We are home from a little getaway to Mackinaw Island. I took this picture of the bridge from the Ferry on the way to the Island. After that my beloved camera and I took a well-deserved 3 day break from each other. I love her. I should really name her. She goes with me everyone. I thought of her many times while I was sightseeing and she was in the hotel resting on the table with a fully charged battery, ready to make me some beautiful pictures. But alas, I needed a break. So, this is all you get. One picture of the bridge.

PS…Dave & I had a wonderful getaway. Ironically we were on a horse drawn carriage in the dark one night and suddenly spotted a recent client, Kristyn and her mom riding past us on bikes. I couldn’t believe we noticed them in the dark in a quick instant. Hope you guys enjoyed your week on the Island too!
