Goodbye Hawaii

Our final day in Hawaii was spent with more sightseeing, shopping, beach time, going out to eat and laying in the sun at the pool. We are sad to be leaving, especially because today was the warmest weather we’ve had all week. Mom & Mark are staying until Saturday, but Grandma, Grandpa & I are leaving overnight tonight. I am excited to get home to see the boys (remember Dave won’t be there because he’ll be on his way to the Superbowl in Phoenix), but I’m not excited to come home to the bad weather you are all warning me about!
Here’s some pictures from our final day in Hawaii.

Pearl Harbor & Waikiki Beach

Today we flew to Oahu for the day. We went to visit Pearl Harbor. What a fasnicating historical site. Grandpa certaintly enjoyed it because he served in World War II. We also went to the Punchbowl which is a memorial & burial site for missing & deceased persons that served in WWII, the Korean War & the Vietnam War. Here’s a few pictures from Pearl Harbor.

After that we spent the rest of the day on Waikiki Beach and then visiting a few other beautiful sights including some lookout points. Oahua/Honolulu is definately different than the quiet setting on Kauai. Here’s a couple of pictures on Waikiki Beach.

I am sad to report that tomorrow will be my final day here in Hawaii! We do have a few more sights left to see tomorrow though.

Beautiful Sights Today

Today was a day of unbelievable sightseeing! My morning started when I woke up at 6:00am AGAIN (why can’t I sleep in?) So I decided to cross something of my list to do in life….I decided to go watch the sunrise. So I woke up my parents and we drove up to a cliff over-looking the ocean and watched the sunrise. Here’s a picture of the sun coming through the clouds.

Then we headed up to Waimea Canyon for the rest of the morning & afternoon. They call it a “mini-Grand Canyon”. It was spectacular! It’s the wettest spot on the whole planet too. It is 5,132 feet above sea level. We had a 17 mile drive from the bottom to the top. We saw so many rainbows! You actually look down at the rainbows in the Canyon. Amazing! I kept saying “How do you walk away from a rainbow?” It was true natural beauty!

Notice 2 rainbows in this picture!!

This was the rainbow that was that had the most vivid colors and was so bright!

Notice a waterfall in this picture with the rainbow!

See the rainbow between Mom & Mark?

Grandma & I enjoying the scenery!

We ended the day by visiting Poipu beach & this famous spot called Spouting Horn. The water shoots up this lava tube every once in a while and makes a spouting noise. I caught a few great pictures of it!

Still Having Fun!

We had another fun-packed day today. We went on a 1.5 hour river boat tour to the Fern Gratto. It was a very beautiful setting and the most popular site for marriages in all of Hawaii! After that we went to Smith’s Tropical Paradise for a tram ride tour. Then it was on to the famous Smith’s Hawaiin Luau. We ate some great authentic Hawaiin food! Then we watched a Polynesian Show filled with authentic music and dances from many different countries. We even got Grandma to learn to Hula dance!!

Oh, in case you have been worried about Dave, I should report that he’s surviving with the boys! My vacation is 1/2 over. I’ll be home soon, Honey! And yes, I miss all 3 of you!

Flowers of Hawaii

Here are some pictures I took of beautiful flowers we saw today at the Fern Gratto.
