What a Fun Session!

Meet Alicia! What a sweetheart! Her mom found my ad on craigslist and we did her senior pictures this week. Alicia & I went to so many locations! After 2 hours I said “want to go to another spot”? She said “sure!!”. And that continued for another full hour as we continued to explore more locations. I don’t even know how to pick my favorite pictues to put here because there are so many.

We were doing train track pictures and all of sudden we heard “choo-choo” and she had about 30 seconds to get off the tracks & the train flew by. Did we move? Heck no! She stood right next to the tracks & we fired a bunch of pictures! Have you ever stood next to tracks as a train came directly towards you at a very fast speed???!!! It’s scary, but exciting!

Anyway, Alicia is very pretty & super sweet and I really enjoyed meeting her & her mom. Thanks again Alicia and good luck in your senior year!

It’s Fun Having a Twin Brother

One thing a twin brother is good for….pushing the other on their bike. Here’s a short video of the boys enjoying one of their bikes.

PS….Can you believe it’s August this week? I hate that summer goes so fast!!

Victoria’s Senior Pictures

First I should write about the weekend quickly. We just ended Jenn’s time visit with us by going to the play Wicked in Lansing tonight (it’s the prequel to Wizard of Oz if you didn’t know). Jenn, Aaron, Dave & I had a very nice evening together and the play was awesome! Jenn flies home in the morning. And then Aaron just has 1 more week of work at his internship! That time also flew by. Janessa comes to visit later this week and she’ll be here for a week. We’ve had company all summer long and it’s been a riot. Oh, I should also mention that Aaron & Jenn babysat the boys on Saturday night and Dave & I went to see the Batman movie.

Ok, on to Victoria….Victoria is my cousin who lives in the Grand Rapids area and she’s the one that I took her senior pictures at Grand Haven Beach last week. She’s so darn beautiful! I’d love to have hair like hers. There’s a constant breeze at the lake so she looked like a model with her hair blowing back in the wind. Anyway, here’s a few of my favorites, plus a few more since she’s family.

These next two I changed the coloring with a technique in photoshop. It’s sort of a washed out type of look. I can’t tell if I like the regular color version better or this version, but it is unique & I like it on some pictures.

And lastly, Victoria said this picture below was her favorite….the train track picture with the funky coloring I did to it. She’s really super artsy in every way, so it doesn’t surprise me she liked the creative, unique pose with the creative coloring.

Photography Ramblings

No pictures with this post, just a few thoughts about my photography hobby/business and to share with you that I LOVE IT!! First piece of exciting news…I upgraded my camera & bought a new fancier one! (Ok Melissa, I know I know I didn’t “need” it, but I just love it, and I’m trying to keep up with you since you are such an awesome photographer!) I’m assuming (hoping) my pictures are even nicer now!

Next, I had my first out of town photo session yesterday. I traveled 3 hours to the beach at Grand Haven on Lake Michigan. I haven’t been there since I was a kid! I took engagement pictures for a couple, as well as some family pictures with their 3 little girls. Then, I grabbed my cousin Victoria along the way and she assisted me during the session & then we did her senior pictures after it. Every bone in my body ached, especially my photography hand! (Pictures to follow later after several hours of editing work.)

The beach proved to be the most challenging photo session ever for me because it was the harshest, brightest sun ever and it glared off the white sand & the water. But I couldn’t move the sun, or the beach, or the lake, or the beautiful pier & lighthouses….so I had to deal with it! Luckily I recently figured out how to use my new fancy flash because despite the sun I had to use the flash to prevent the shadows on their faces on many of the pictures.

Another exciting piece of news, I landed my first wedding! (Carol thinks I’m a little crazy as she is having flash backs of her years of photographing weddings & the enormous amount of stress that goes along with them!) The wedding is in Nov of 2009 and it’s a large wedding!

And my last photography news is that my business has really boomed lately. I’ve bid on 4 weddings recently and just this weekend I received 4 inquires from my website and it looks like I’m landing all of those jobs as well.

Oh wait, I thought of one more thing. It also looks like I’m landing a job with Dave’s company to photograph 20 credit unions across the state. I’ll then make large blown up mounted prints to line the halls of their new building.

So, in summary, I’m having a riot with my hobby, now turned business, and life is good! :)

Daddy’s Home

I really like this picture. The boys love it when Dave gets home from work and they get to run up to him to greet him with hugs and kisses. It’s sweet to see Brady kissing Dave in this picture, but also to see Tyler’s smile in the background as he waits his turn to kiss him also.
