SLC Here We Come

We blast off in 15 minutes to Salt Lake City. Well, our car leaves in 15 minutes…the plane takes off in a few hours. We’re going to visit the family for the holiday weekend. We’ll be back on Tuesday night. This will be the 4th or 5th time the boys have flown (I’ve lost track!). Each time it’s hard with the traveling, time change, and upsetting their ever-so-important “schedule” (all you mom’s know what I’m talking about). So, I’m hoping this trip goes better than the last one over Memorial Day.

Well, off to check the bags and make sure I have enough snacks & toys to entertain them on the plane. I hope all of you have a great holiday weekend!

Maybe We Shouldn’t Sell It

We have our boat & boat slip up for sale and have gotten a couple of calls on them. So tonight we went down to the boat to clean it up, take some pictures of it and go for a boat ride. It was such a perfect night that it made us unsure of selling it. The only reason we would sell it is because as part of our community dues we are “part owners” of 4 boats that we have access to already. So maybe we’ll hope no one buys it just yet! Anyway, there was a gorgeous sunset, so I took some pictures of it.

I love my boy’s eyes and I love that they are so different!

Brady & Tyler’s New Idol

Tonight Brady & Tyler fell in love with Ronald McDonald. Yes, we knew the day would come. Doesn’t it for every child? I take them to McDonald’s often and they love to eat Chicken McNuggets, French Fries & Chocolate Milk (a kid’s dream meal, right?). And they love to drive the car in the plaything (thank goodness they haven’t fallen in love with actually roaming through the plaything and getting stuck yet).

BUT, tonight was a whole new experience at McDonald’s. Dave was gone all last week and again all this week on business. So I take the boys somewhere every day & every evening. Tonight I chose McD’s. I figured I can kill two birds with one stone by getting them dinner & letting them play. Well, I didn’t realize that Wednesday is Family night and kids meals were only $1.50. On top of that, Ronald McDonald himself was there! Double bonus!!!

The boys had their very first Happy Meal ever. And in their box they collected all their goodies. Ronald personally gave them a frisbee and a little book. And they got a Ronald McDonald toddler toy. It cracked me up to see them sit with all the other kids & watch very intently while Ronald did his magic show. And yes, I was the mom who took out her cell phone camera & took pictures of her boys entrance into the childhood fascination with Ronald McDonald & Happy Meals.

I’m sure they will dream about Ronald McDonald tonight as they take their Happy Meal box with all their Ronald McDonald toys in it to bed with them. I’m serious about that too.

Family Weekend

We went to Grand Rapids this past weekend to visit with some of our family. On Saturday we went to my niece & nephew’s birthday party (Jennifer & Brian’s kids). Hailey turned 7 years old and Brian turned 13 years old. They have such a great yard for an outdoor party! Here’s some pictures of Hailey & Brian and a few miscellaneous ones of the boys enjoying the party.

And the hit of the party (for my boys anyway) was Hailey’s pink Cadillac motorized car. Now you know how my boys are drawn to driving or steering cars (Zach, remember that in Utah?). At first they were content riding in the passenger seat with Hailey driving. But later Grandma showed them how to drive it on their own. And can you believe the boys knew how to push the pedal to make it go and to make it stop?! They weren’t as good with the steering though. Guess we have an idea for a Christmas present this year. Except those things are super expensive! And I’d have to get 2 of them. I’ll start looking at Craigslist for them!

On Sunday we went to a family reunion for Mark’s side of the family. It was a nice time at the park! Here’s a picture of part of our family gang…those that were in town and could make it.

A Few Ramblings About Whatever

New Word: Ok, confess! Who taught my boys to say the word “mine”? They only say about 6 words now and one of them is the nasty word “mine”! I can’t imagine how they learned that word. Where have they even heard it? I don’t think I’ve ever said “that’s mine” to them. Sometimes I say “that’s mommy’s” when they reach for something they shouldn’t have. But never “mine”. The other day they must have said it about 100 times. Now they are down to about 25 times a day. They sound like bratty little boys! Darn!

TraveI: I just finished booking final details for a couple of vacations. Dave & I are going to Hawaii in November (Maui) and asked my mom (and Mark when he’s not working or deer hunting) to watch the boys for us. In return, I’m taking mom on a cruise to the Bahamas in September as a sort of thank-you. Dave will watch the boys for that. Did anyone else just do the math? I ended up with two vacations myself!! Well, Dave is going to Vegas in October to see Aubrey & Family….I’m staying behind for that one. And all 4 of us are going to Utah over Labor Day. Here’s hoping that goes easier than it did in May.

Traffic: I was driving somewhere yesterday and caught a glimpse of the highway. I realized that I rarely drive on the highway anyway. I just drive around town, mostly Brighton. (Sounds like I’m a good candidate for a hybrid car, huh?) Anyway, I also had a flash back about traffic jams & construction. I spent most of my 20’s battling the rush hour traffic in Atanta (ugh!!!) and then 1/2 of my 30’s battling the traffic in Detroit (almost as bad as Atlanta…definately more construction). I just had one of those weird moments yesterday realizing that I haven’t driven in rush hour traffic for nearly 2 years.

2 years: Which brings me to the thought about 2 years. The boys will be 2 next month!!! Ok, so it’s the very last day of the month. But still, it’s next month!!! WOW!

So, with that, I’m off to get ready. A few of us mom’s and toddlers are heading to the petting zoo at Domino’s Farms. Enjoy your day!!

PS…..Aaron, I miss having you here and talking to you every day!!!
