Grab a Kleenex

I had a unique experience today when I was doing a photography job downtown Detroit.  I decided to put it on my photography blog since it was photography related, although it could have fit on this blog just as well.  It’s titled “Grab a Kleenex” on my photography blog as well.

Go check it out!  www.rememberwhenphotographybykristi.com/blog

Time to get in shape again!

About 7 years ago I said “if I only had a treadmill, I’d get in shape”.  Well, I bought one & lost weight.  Now, 7 years later it sits in my basement (although Dave does use it!).  Then last winter I said “if I only had a gym membership, I’d get back in shape”.  So I joined a gym, went religiously for 2 or so months and lost 5 lbs.  Haven’t used it since!  Now this winter I’ve been saying “if only I had an elliptical machine, I’d get back in shape”.  And so the cycle goes, we bought an elliptical machine this weekend and I HOPE that means I’m going to get motivated and lose my baby weight!  Wait, rephrase that.  I AM GOING TO LOSE THIS WEIGHT.  I am 15 pounds heavier than I was before I had the boys.

We bought the elliptical machine, used, from a couple off craigslist who didn’t use it much (sound familiar, anyone?).  So we only spent about 1/2 what we would pay for a new one.  Smart decision!

Brady & Tyler were making use of the treadmill this morning.  Apparently wanting to join in on the action as Mom & Dad exercised.  Yes, they put our socks on, positioned our shoes on the treadmill, and stood on it in this exact manner.  I cracked up when I noticed what they were doing and grabbed the camera.  In the bottom picture Brady decided to give the elliptical a try as well.

So, anyway, Sara, Cindy, Mellissa, Julie, Aubrey (who else am I missing?) I’m joining you in the pursuit of getting some of that pre-baby body back!  I can only dream that I’ll get into my wedding dress like Julie recently did!

Another Cider Mill Visit

‘Tis the season for Cider Mills, right?  My good friends Sara, Lisa, Jackie & I (aka the playgroup mamas) took the kiddos for some fun at Jenny’s Farm Stand today.  It started out pretty chilly, but the sun made it feel warmer and we had a nice time.

Instead of pictures of just the kids again, us ladies finally jumped in the picture.

By the way, I LOVE all the comments on this new blog!!  Keep them up!  It’s so fun to know that people are reading this and enjoying it.  Even Mom figured out how to comment (now that comments on this blog don’t require a google account)!!

And here’s Tyler & his girlfriend, Kennedy (remember the recent posts about them kissing and always being together).  Well, Tyler is showing his chivalrous side even at 2 years old by pushing Kennedy in the wagon.  And no, we didn’t stage this.

And while Tyler is spending time with his girlfriend, Brady is feeling left out.  LOL

A Trip Down Memory Lane

Today I took a road trip to Grand Rapids & Big Rapids to photograph two different credit unions.  I was especially excited about the trip to Big Rapids because that’s where I went to college, at Ferris State University.  I’ve only been to Big Rapids once since I graduated (clear my throat) 16 years ago!  So, you can imagine I had fun traveling down memory lane!

First stop is to have lunch with Donna & Denise.  They were my bosses for all 4 years while I worked in the College of Business office helping them out.  I’d work any hour that I didn’t have a class.  It was the best job ever, and I worked for the best ladies ever!  And 16 years later we still keep in touch.  Today was only the 4th time we’ve seen each other since I graduated, so it’s always extra special to see them!

See, told you they were the sweetest ladies ever….they remembered it was my birthday and got me a FSU sweatshirt!  I was so excited!!!

After my photo shoot I just HAD to drive into campus to check things out.  First of all, this beautiful building wasn’t there before!

And here’s the College of Business where I learned all the important business things that make me so smart.  ha ha!  It’s also where I worked with Donna & Denise.

And this is Brophy Hall, the dorms where I lived for my first two years.  Cindy, remember this????  Oh man, do we have memories here!

Next stop was my sorority house where I lived for my last two years.  If I wasn’t so comfortable on my couch I’d run downstairs and pull out all of my sorority memorabilia.  It’s good for many laughs!!  To take this picture I had to pull into the driveway of my ex-husband’s fraternity house.  Yep, lots of memories!

Yep, this is my alma mater!  What a fun trip!

Taking one more peak behind me in my mirror.

Ok, one last stop….to fill up with gas.  I just had to ask a college kid to take my picture with my new sweatshirt on.  I know, I’m crazy.  I suppose he thought I was too.  But Donna & Denise, here’s proof the sweatshirt fits perfect!!  Do I look like I could pass for a college student?  Or do I really look 37?

Oh, I forgot, one more stop along the way.  I think this was the Muskegon river.  I literally went through the”authorized vehicles only” thing to get to the other side of the highway to get this picture.   Oh, I also ignored the “no stopping, standing or parking” sign as well.  I couldn’t pass it up.  If you aren’t from Michigan, this is what us Michiganders mean when we say we love the fall because the colors are so beautiful.

A Good Birthday

Well, I had a good birthday today!  I didn’t take any pictures or videos, so you have to put up with just writing this time around.

I had my family party this past weekend, as you know.  Today the playgroup ladies (aka, my 4 good friends who share everything with me from poop stories, female stories, struggles, excitements, etc) threw me a nice birthday luncheon.  And tonight Dave and the boys took me out to dinner, gave me a few presents and bought me a nice cake.  Aaron….nope, no “jiggy with it” sung around here…but a close second with twinkle twinkle and intsy wintsy spider.  LOL

Then there were the nice phone calls, like from my best friend from college, Cindy.  And several cards in the mail from many family & friends.  And the emails were amazing!  As well as the facebook messages.  Gee, how did so many people know it was my birthday?  What a nice surprise from everyone!

Sad story for the day is that little Kennedy fell down the entire flight of stairs at my house!  Luckily no injuries and luckily it didn’t send Jackie into labor (35 weeks pg with twins and dialated to 4!!!).  And the funny story for the day was that we caught Kennedy (aka Tyler’s girlfriend) and Tyler kissing on the lips in the bathroom corner!!  I’m not kidding.  I saw how it started.  Tyler “came on” to Kennedy by resting his head on her shoulder.  And within seconds they were lip kissing over and over.  I know, should have grabbed the camera, but totally enjoyed watching it instead!

So, I’m 37….a little older, a few more wrinkles, a handful or two of extra pounds….but I’m healthy, happy and glad to be loved by so many great family & friends.
