Easter Treats from Laura

I’ve blogged before about Laura.  She worked with me my last job.  She’s done great staying in touch with me and has made several trips out to visit us since the boys were born.  And she’s always so thoughtful!  Dave was out of town for a week so Laura came to spend a day with us and she came with lots of treats for the boys.  She gave them each a super cute Easter basket filled with goodies, including stuffed animals, m&m’s, sidewalk chalk and a little bunny bowling game (which they loved).  Here’s a few pictures.  As always, it was great seeing you, Laura!

Yum, Pizza!

Last week my friend Mary invited us over to her house for a visit.  I worked with Mary at my last job, although she worked in the NY office so we didn’t see each other much.  But we both got married around the same time, and both had babies around the same time.  Her son Max is just 4 months older than Tyler & Brady.  So, we both left the company after having babies and have since become friends.  They are generally in NY, but have a place here in Michigan so they can come visit family.  So it was fun to see them again.  I haven’t seen them since this past Fall when I photographed Max.

On the menu for this fun playdate was pizza.  Mary had the kids all make their own pizza, which they thought was super fun.  Although in the normal toddler fashion, and as you can see from these pictures, they all ate parts of the pizza while they were making it.  Max went right for the crust/bread and Brady & Tyler ate practically a whole bag of pepperoni and cheese.

Thanks Mary for having us over!!  We are looking forward to another visit soon.

Here’s Brady first, then Tyler and then Max.

2.5 Years Old and Full of Changes

Brady & Tyler turn 2.5 years old this week, and suddenly came lots of unexpected changes.

For the past 11 days, they have been skipping most of their naps.  I think I’ve figured out that they are napping about 25% of the time.  It’s so frustrating for me because I never can tell if they need a nap and I’m not getting to exercise and do my photo work while they nap like I’ve become to accustomed (addicted) to.

Tyler chewed through his final green pacifier so I told them they couldn’t have them anymore.  They each have 1 in their bed (Tyler is borrowing one of Brady’s blue ones for which he thinks is so funny).  The pacifiers never leave the bed.  That was the easiest thing ever!  They’ve never fussed about not having them….6 days so far!  Glad we are done with that habit!

They also got in a bad habit of bringing a sippy cup with them to bed.  I ended that the same day I stopped the pacifiers.  No complaints about that either!

Brady went pee in the potty for the first time the other night.  He actually went twice that night.  He told me he had to go, held it until I got him on the potty, and then instantly went when he sat down.  I’ll let you know when I’m ready to officially potty train.  Not quite ready for that yet especially since we have 2 trips this coming month.

Meal times have changed!  We got rid of bibs!  And we got rid of high chairs and booster chairs!  And they started using a real cup to drink out of and real silverware.

They are saying a lot of words, even putting together several words to make short sentences.  Often I am the only one who understands them though!

They both have learned all of their colors now (instead of calling everything blue or orange).  And Tyler can count to 10 on his own, which really surprised me.

So, lots of changes at 2.5 years old!  Remember their twin friends that are the same age….the “Doody’s” as they call them?  Well, they are starting to call them “Noah and D” instead of calling them both “Doody”.  And yesterday Tyler called his girlfriend, Kennedy, by her full name instead of K-K.  Changes are fun, but sometimes sad too.  Anyway, here’s a couple of picture of the boys with the Doody’s at the park the other day.

Where Do They Go When They Say They Are Going To Work?

There’s a sesame street video/song along those lines.  It’s a song about wondering what your Mom or Dad does and where they go when they say they are going to work.  I never really thought about that.  The boys say goodbye to Dave most morning and throughout the day they know he’s at work.  But what does the word “work” mean to a 2.5 year old?  Well, they finally found out.  I brought the boys to Dave’s work for the first time and they loved it.  They got to see his office, his desk, his computer, his hello (phone) and his friends.  Every time I introduced someone to the boys as Daddy’s work friends Tyler would go up and hug them.  Of course I had to take a few pics….which should come as no surprise to you by now.

Two Sisters and A Computer

How long does it take two sisters, in their late 50’s & early 60’s, alone in Florida, to figure out how to set up a yahoo email account?  One full hour and several gray hairs lost.  LOL.

Mom, having fun in Florida with Aunt Judi on their annual trip together, decided to teach Aunt Judi how to use the internet.  They called me because they were trying to set up a yahoo address for her.  Too funny!  They proudly exclaimed that after an hour they figured it out.

Sorry Mom & Aunt Judi, couldn’t help but crack a little joke at your expense.  You know I love you.  Welcome to the internet world, Aunt Judi!   Now finish your fun in Florida and come home and buy a lap top.  I promise to email you often.  :)

Here’s a picture of Mom, Aunt Judi and I when I joined them on their annual Florida trip, two years ago (the boys were only about 6 months old and Dave stayed home alone with them for the first time).
