To Vaccinate or Not, That is the Question

I’m not really overly concerned about the swine flu. But you certainly can’t help but think about it given everything you see on the news. And certainly if it’s the cause of death for so many people then it makes you think twice about it.

So, I joined the frenzy today and went to the half-day only N1H1 flu clinic today at the health department. My friends were in line for 2 hours when it first started. Outside. In the cold. With the little ones. I ended up going in the middle of the afternoon and only stood in line for an hour. They were offering it to high risk groups and kids under the age of 5 only. So the boys both got their nasal mist vaccination. I feel like one of the rare ones who was given the opportunity to have the vaccination available. Heck, we still haven’t been able to get the boys their season flu shot due to availability.

Bored in line, so I snapped a couple of pics with my phone camera.

NYC was a Blast!

Mom & I had a blast in New York City! We were there from Friday through Monday and we did EVERYTHING! We literally woke up in the morning and left the hotel and didn’t return until late at night. The city is amazing. Here are some of the things we did:

1. We saw the play Wicked (I’ve seen it twice this past year but could see it a million times and never get enough of it).
2. We went underground through a secret door in China Town to purchase fake purses. Sorry for the scare mom!!!
3. We rode the subway many times. And we walked probably 20 miles total in 3 days. Or something like that. Mom’s feet may beg to differ and would probably say it was more like 50 miles.
4. We shopped and shopped and shopped. Even went into the fancy 5th avenue shops and acted like we could afford it. Note to self: the bigger suitcase was barely enough, bring extra suitcase next time.
5. We toured the NBC studios. My favorite part was seeing the Saturday Night Live studio. Mom watched SNL for the first time ever that night in the hotel too.
6. We partied in Times Square till the wee hours. Well, not really partied. But we did do Times Square in mom/daughter fashion….shopping, eating, sightseeing, etc.
7. What else…..Empire State Building, World Trade Center, Battery Park, Central Park, China Town, Wall Street, etc.

What didn’t I do while there?

1. Work. I couldn’t bring myself to work at all. I guess I needed the break. It was great to get away from it for a short time.
2. Take pictures. I didn’t bring my camera. Although I had my small point and shoot camera in my purse the whole time.

My little camera only came out of my purse 2 times. The first time was when we were walking down Wall Street and saw a small commotion. They were filming a scene from a new movie called “The Other Guys” with Dwayne Johnson (The Rock), Samuel L Jackson & Will Ferrell. It was so cool so see them shoot a short scene, and we were standing so close! You can see Dwayne Johnson in the police uniform/t-shirt talking at the podium in the first picture and then just standing on the stairs in the second picture.

And then on the last day, as we were strolling through Central Park about an hour before we had to leave for the airport, I decided we needed ONE picture of us to document the trip. So, here’s that picture. Mom, thanks so much for enjoying the trip with me and being such a good friend and mother. I love you!

Thanks for the B-day Wishes

Oh, shucks (blushing), thanks Dave for sneaking into my blog and leaving that post. I admire your attempts at photography and collages too! And thanks to everyone for all the b-day wishes today!

We went out for dinner tonight and Dave & the boys got me a new winter jacket and a sweater. Dave did really good coming up with those ideas and picking them out too. And we know this is not an easy task for a man to pick out clothes for a woman.

While Dave is riding high on the “oh, what a good husband he is” from all of you after that last blog post, I’ll add to that by saying that last night Dave came home and said he wanted to take me and the boys to Disney World. Next week. Seriously? We had trouble finding plane tickets, so we ended up booking them for the week after, along with a 2 bedroom condo. So yeah, in two weeks from today we’re taking the boys to Disney in Orlando. Just for 4 days. But what a fun little trip that will be! The boys are so excited. They don’t know what Disney is. But they know that plane rides + vacation + condo + mickey mouse = something fun to look forward too.

On Friday my Mom and I leave for the Big Apple. New York City, that is. It’s our annual mother/daughter trip. A tradition I started after I had the boys. Sort of a thank you to her for watching the boys throughout the year so Dave & I can take vacations together. We’re going for 4 days and bringing our walking shoes. We’ll be the sightseers who collapse at the end of the day from non-stop tourist action.

And I’ll leave you with a picture of the cake that the boys picked out for me. Now I probably would’ve chosen a cheesecake or something like that. But hey, a gaudy silly face on a purple cake, why not?

A Very Special Day!

Well, as I write this post, we’re just a few short hours from a very important event. No, it isn’t the presidential election or the arrival of Santa Claus or even the Super Bowl. It is something much more special than that. Any idea what it is?

Well, let me give you a hint with this picture:

Who is the hottie in this picture?

Well, thank you very much but I really wasn’t talking about myself! Geez?! I wish. But Kristi on the other hand, the love of my life is turning ??!??!? tomorrow. (Never reveal a woman’s age)

So, happy birthday my dear! You are my best friend and you are so wonderful in so many ways, I hope you have a terrific birthday! She will get showered with a few gifts tomorrow and lots of kisses from her favorite boys, Tyler and Brady (seen here in this pre-Rememberwhenbykristi shot as the reason Kristi got into photography. She had to capture all the images of these loving little boys who STILL will only let her tuck them into bed. Imagine that?!?!

So, on your birthday, I just wanted to post a big THANK YOU for all that you do for me and the rest of your family who wish you a very HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!

Love,

Dave, Tyler, Brady, Aubrey, Lance, Annika, Landon, Luke, Janessa, Nich, Zach, Aaron and of course, Grandma Adams (All seen below in a very subpar (rememberwhenbyDave potpourri)

A Post With No Pictures

How boring is that? No pictures!? Well, it’s 1am and I’m up working still. Same thing I do every night for about the past 4 months.  My business has been GREAT and completely exploded, but it’s nearly impossible for me to keep up. I’ve posted 5 posts/new clients on my photography business blog since the last time I posted on this family blog a week and a half ago. So I decided I needed to write a post here so prove to myself that I’m doing other things besides working these days.

Ok, there, I feel better.

Oh, wait, this will make me feel bad. We just got back last night from Utah. We were there for 4 days and had a FABULOUS time. However, I did not have one single picture. Not one. Let me repeat. Not one. How rare is that? (Except I did newborn pics for TJ & Kim…check them out by clicking here.)I think that goes to show that I’m completely exhausted with taking and editing pictures right now. I even bought myself a new toy….the Canon 5D camera….and yet I still didn’t take any pictures or video while we were out there.

I think I need a vacation.

Oh wait, I just had one.

Ok, I need another.

Ok, good another one is coming. I’m going to NYC next week with my mom! Our annual mother-daughter trip. Note to self….do NOT bring computer. Bring camera. Take lots of pictures. But do not bring computer to work.

Ok, back to my regular post. The Utah trip was great. I love it out there. It’s the 7th time we’ve taken Brady & Tyler with us. They travel so well. And they love seeing all of the family. So do we.

Oh, this is big news. I need to blog about this so I don’t forget when this happened. The boys are officially done with naps. It started about a month ago. I don’t even put them in bed for quiet time anymore. It’s been hard for me not to have those 2 hours of dedicated work time, but it has also been refreshing to be out and about during that time. I have no choice but to accept it and deal with it. So I’m embracing it. Trying.  Happily.

I promise pictures next time. I have family pictures from a few different events that I haven’t even looked at yet, let alone edited to post and blog about.
I. Will. Make. Time. Soon.
