Merry Christmas

It’s Christmas Eve and we returned tonight from Grand Rapids.  It was a great few days!  We spent time with all of my various family members.  We even were able to watch one of my nephew Brett’s basketball tournament games.  In the morning we will unpack our suitcases, repack and leave for Utah in the afternoon.

Here are a few pictures with Grandma & Grandpa Terpstra.

And, I’ll leave you with our Christmas card this year. We hope you are all enjoying the holidays with your family & friends!!

Santa Came to Our House Before Yours!!!

You might think Santa isn’t coming to your house to bring presents until December 24, but our house was lucky enough to be chosen by a special early visit from Santa….last night!  Hey, Brady & Tyler don’t know what day Christmas is.  So, around here, we called Christmas Day today.  Why?  Well, because we have lots of family Christmas gatherings this week, we leave for Utah on Christmas Day and it worked out best for us to be able to celebrate with Jenn & Aaron here as well.

So, last night we all had our special Christmas dinner, we put out cookies and apple juice (the boys chosen that) for Santa and Aaron & Jenn spent the night.  And then we found all the presents under the tree from Santa when we woke up and had the traditional “open presents from Santa in your PJ’s”.

After our Christmas, we ended up going to Grand Rapids for two extended family Christmas parties.  WOW, that’s 3 celebrations in one day, plus 4 hours of driving.  The boys did AWESOME!  Such a fun day.

I have so many cute videos, but I can’t get them to upload on this blog for some reason.  I don’t want to forget what was on the boys’ Christmas lists, so I’m writing these down so we can laugh about it someday. They have been listing these items for the past 2 months whenever you ask them what is on their list.

Tyler’s Christmas list:  Two funny boys on a horse (medieval times guys that ride on horses), Three dragons with fingernails (claws) and wings to help them fly, a lawnmower car (like a dune buggy) and a funny boy shirt (spiderman)

Brady’s Christmas list:  A throw game (magnet darts), Three dragons not with fingernail but only wings to help them fly, a black car, paper and crayons, Dora backpack, and a funny boy shirt (superman).

I’ll post more pics of the other celebrations in separate posts.  We will be going back to Grand Rapids from Tuesday through Thursday.  And then Utah Friday through New Years Eve.  Can’t wait!!!

Here are some pics from our Christmas this morning.  I’m not responsible for any corny pics of Aaron.  Hey, if you let your wife grab my camera and make crazy faces when she takes pics of you and then you leave them on my camera, then I own the rights to the pics and can (and will) post them on my blog.  LOL

Gymnastics (better known as “nastics” around here)

Brady & Tyler were in a gymnastics class this Fall and recently finished their last class.  They really enjoyed it and we plan to do it again.  The boys will be happy to show you many of the things they learned including their table top position, pike position, summersault, handstand against the wall, their butterfly position and color, or their pizza hands.  In the beginning Brady was deathly afraid of the trampoline and would only do it if I held him.  By the end he was doing it on his own.  Probably their favorite part was jumping into the pit.  Or being “popcorn” on the trampoline.

The boys’ friends Dylan, Noah, Kennedy and Elle were all in their class too.  On our last class we did a make up class in the evening and Dave was able to come along and see what the boys had been talking about for almost 3 months.  So that was really cool.  It was comical watching Dave try to do some of the stretches.  Like the one where you try to touch your nose to your toes in the butterfly position.  The teacher asked Tyler what his toes smelled like in an effort to prompt him to try to stretch and reach his nose to his toes.  He easily did it, took a sniff of his toes and said “they smell like coconut”.  Hilarious!

Here are some pics of that last class.  Yes, I was the annoying mom running around the whole class taking pics (and video).  But hey, at least I waited until the very last class.

Christmas Deco

Thanksgiving weekend Dave decided it was time that we started decorating the outside of the house….for the boys’ sake.  hee hee.  So, Brady helped him put up lights and had a lot of fun.  7 hours later we had the outside decorated and had the tree up in the house.  It did take a full week before we finally decorated the tree though!

First Visit With Santa

Each year the boys have been afraid of Santa.  Including this year.  Until yesterday.  We went to Laurel Manor mall and there was no one in line.  Just a little girl sitting on Santa’s lap talking with him.  I think that helped the boys.  When it was our turn, the boys said no.  So I held their hand and brought them to Santa.  Instantly they started listing what was on their Christmas list.  Their list has remained the same for several weeks now.  They each have about 4 things on it.  And each of their lists are different.  I’ll blog about that another time.  I want to get it on video.  Anyway, Santa asked Brady to come closer and he did and then got on his lap (total surprise).  Once Tyler saw it was ok with Brady then he sat on Santa’s lap.  And I told the lady…TAKE A PICTURE!!!

Not bad for their first pic with Santa, huh?  Both looking at the camera and smiling.  While I do everything in my power to save a dollar here and there, I gladly paid their $20 fee so I could bring home 2 prints for their scrapbook.  LOL

Here’s a pic of the pic.
