First Time Tubing

It sort of felt like a milestone…..like one of those “I can’t believe they are old enough to be doing this” kind of moments. Brady & Tyler went tubing behind the boat for the first time. Memorial weekend was awesome. We went boating all 3 days. Brady was first to volunteer to be brave and try tubing (after some encouragement with $1 to pick out anything he wanted at the dollar store). Tyler tried hard to get $1 for just riding in the boat, but finally gave in and went also.

(By the way, I broke down and got a big zoom lens for my camera. I have to start out every busy season with a new toy to add to my photo equipment. These pictures look amazing at 200mm, f2.8 (for those of you who know what that means). So close, even though we were so far away. Fun!!)

Here’s Brady….

And here’s Tyler…..

Brady = Part 2

Another Brady funny. Every night I go check on the boys when I go to bed. You know the usual…..put their covers on them, turn their flashlight off if they left it on, and just make sure they are snug as a bug sleeping so that I can go to bed without worrying. Well, 2 nights ago I found Brady sleeping like this. Flash light on. Goggles on. And notice his ear bent in half. (Thanks to my fancy camera and flash system this picture looks like it’s day light, but it actually was pitch dark in their room when I took this picture.)

Yes, I took the goggles off without disturbing him. But at 2am I found him with his goggles back on.

Brady: “Mom, what is this heavy thing sticking out of my foot?”

MSU Gardens

I’ve never been to the MSU Gardens, which includes a children’s garden area and a butterfly house. It’s on the campus of MSU in Lansing. My friend Lisa had never been there before either and asked us if we wanted to go. It was a fun little trip and we had a great time!

Lisa was particularly interested in the butterfly house because Riley loves them and because they are currently “growing” butterflies at their house right now (for lack of a better word). They had caterpillars, then they turned into the chrysalis’ (notice the gold crystal looking ring around them in the pics), then cocoons and then butterflies. I had no idea that butterflies only lived for 2 weeks. Seems like a lot of developing and changes that take place for such a short life span. But wow, are they amazing and beautiful creatures. Here is some of what we saw while we were there.

Mother’s Day

Mother’s day was tough for me for many years because I wanted so badly to be a Mother. It’s made me appreciate my boys and realize how fortunate I am to be blessed with such wonderful and healthy boys. I love being a mother.

Today was special because I had these two guys rolling on the floor with me this afternoon:

And it was also special because I was able to spend time with my wonderful Mom, who I could never say enough about. She’s an incredible Mom and I’m so very lucky to have her. And for the first time I was also able to spend Mother’s Day with more of my family….Aaron & Jenn made the day extra special for me as well.
